THE WEDNESDAY LINKS

Here are some things I’ve deemed worth checking out on this boring Wednesday.

Open gym video from 10/11/08 – check out the recruits. Daniel Orton is the mountain in the white shirt. Dominique Ferguson is the slender guy in the white shirt. I think Russell Byrd is the white kid in the orange shirt, but that could also be Jon Hood. That one was the hardest thing to decipher. Ferguson looks like a top 5 player in his class, and the scariest things is that people say he’s getting better and better.

Check out this link from Matt Jones’ site. All personal feelings for Jones aside, he did something that I could only dream of doing – he got Jeff Goodman on his show and grilled him. I plan on doing it in text form (but not until next week, thanks to Andy Katz), but it pales in comparison to Matt Jones making Goodman backtrack on every question. I don’t think all college basketball writers have an axe to grind when they write about Kentucky basketball, but Goodman definitely fits the bill. If you find the links on this site, be sure to open them up in new tabs or windows instead of closing the UK Wildcat Country window. Thanks in advance.

Part 2

Here’s a piece from Billy Reed where he praises Billy Gillispie for landing Daniel Orton…just kidding. Warning: This is another piece of Billy Reed filth only a notch lower than the piece from December where he called for Gillispie’s job. It’s one of the biggest hack jobs I’ve ever seen, but for the guy who once compared Adolph Rupp to Hitler, did you expect anything else?

Here’s a column by Chip Cosby on the receiver dilemma now that Dicky Lyons is out for the year. You can say whatever you want about the Herald-Leader, but I think Chip does a good job with his football stuff. You might not like it, but I did, so here it is.

UK looks for help at receiver

This is a recent piece by Larry Vaught on the offensive woes and Randall Cobb. This might be my 12th Region bias, but I think it’s on point, par for the course for LV.

Vaught on Cobb

Remember this blast from the past? Two years ago, Michigan State blew a 37-21 lead against Notre Dame in one of the most epic choke jobs you’ll ever see in a football game. The day after that game, MSU radio host Mike Valenti lost his ever-loving mind. The following 15 minutes and change are known as the “Angry MSU Rant.” I have to say that if Kentucky loses to Casey Dick, that is, if Casey Dick’s passing makes the difference in the outcome of the game in Arkansas’s favor, I will sound a lot like this guy, sans the part about calling for the coaches’ jobs.

MAKE PLAYS!!!

If you guys have any suggestions for future links, feel free to let me know.

I’m Seth Stogsdill, and hopefully we won’t be pining for Teddy Ruxpin after Saturday.
