How About 2 A.M. UK Baseball?

That’s right, UK’s game last night–their first round opener against fifth-seeded Alabama in the SEC tournament–didn’t end until after 2 a.m. eastern last night.

But that’s the bad news, as UK beat Alabama 9-3 behind Aaron Lovett’s first career start–a complete game. Impressive.

Also, Sawyer Carroll had a sac fly to become UK’s all-time leader for RBI’s in a season. The former record holder was 2006 SEC Player of the Year Ryan Strieby. The win extended UK to a 4-0 record against Alabama this year.

Now UK takes on No. 8 seeded Ole Miss after they upset No. 1 seed Georgia last night. The teams are scheduled to play again tonight, 9 p.m. eastern, 8 central. UK almost swept the Rebels in their season-ending series last weekend.

This is a real interesting game for UK, because if they can win they will have a day of rest on Friday as the loser’s bracket shakes down. Plus, in a double elimination tournament, whatever team they faced on Saturday would be forced to beat them twice in one day.

If the Cats lose, they would have to play Friday–and if they win–play possibily a double-header Saturday.

Interesting game for the Cats tonight, will the late night hurt the Cat’s chance against Ole Miss?
