A few weeks ago, we here at UK Wildcat Country asked ourselves, “What else might the average UK fan want from us besides the usual football and basketball posts?” It didn’t take long to figure out that every fan loves two big things about sports: the actual sport and the girls involved in them. So, I was delegated with the arduous task of assembling a list of the HOTTEST UK FEMALE ATHLETES for the 2008-2009 athletics season. After days of grueling, exhausting research, I’ve finally finished that task.

Kicking off the first Hot List may be a surprise to UK fans, but I couldn’t say no with those eyes looking straight at me so intently. A member of the greatest rifle team in the history of man, Sarah brings an added flair to the squad with her good looks.

9) Mallory Blackwelder – Golf – Senior

Mallory may also be a surprise to the list as the transfer spent the first part of her collegiate experience at the University of Florida. Blackwelder graced the UK women’s golf team with, well, herself when her mother (Myra) decided to take on the open head coaching position. Consider the hire a three-way success: a great coach, one of the top amateur golfers in the nation, and even more hotness added to an already attractive team.

Blaire Hiler – Volleyball – Sophomore

Blaire is an easy pick with her golden blonde hair and striking long legs. On other schools’ lists, she would definitely be higher. Whether she’s on or off the market is clouded with uncertainty over her relations with men’s basketball sophomore AJ Stewart. Blaire is as tall as me…and that’s okay.

7) Alisa Pierce – Volleyball – Senior

The hustling libero for what could be a top 25 team this season, Alisa has a unique set of good looks at the short girl position. Out of PRP, Pierce may be the toughest girl on this list. Don’t let that pretty face get you in trouble next time you try to holla.

6) Carly Ormerod – Women’s Basketball – Senior

Carly is probably the most popular girl on this season’s hot list. She has the talent to make the money league and she’s hot in a Diana Taurasi sort of way. Like Pierce, Ormerod has a unique attractiveness. She’s no supermodel, but there’s just something about her that’s captivating. This year’s number six might be a personal favorite.

5) Sarah Mendoza – Volleyball – Sophomore

This 5-11 beauty brings a latina flair to the 08-09 Hot List. Her long, athletic body; gorgeous profile; and naturally curly locks make her one of the most sought after bachelorettes on campus. Kudos to the man who wins this bronzed beauty’s heart. “Sarah! Pick me! I’m single!”

4) Kellye Lavera – Soccer – Junior

Kellye transferred from Ole Miss, sat out the 2006 season, and has been stunningly gorgeous from then til now. A junior by eligiblity, but a senior classmember, this babe has caused a lot of whiplash throughout her two years in Lexington.

3) Amber Matousek – Softball – Junior

There’s not much to say about this phenominally gorgeous woman but “WOW!” It would be a crime not to have her on our list, and had it not been for a special duo on the cross country team, she would top the list. Argument could still be made for her to hold the numero uno spot with her exquisite euro facial features…and everything else.

But here is where it gets interesting, daring, and out of this world. My friends and family may be ashamed.

1-2) Jessica and Jenna Ortman – Cross Country – Seniors

We thought about having these two take up one spot (since they’re identical and all), but then we thought they were so hot that they deserved two spots. And we’re right. These girls are lively, talented, and drop…dead…gorgeous. The horrible thing about it is that, before doing my research, I had never heard of them. So, maybe this is their coming out party right here on the 2008-2009 WC Hot List. It was a tough decision with the top 5, but the twin-power pushed these ladies to the top. Say hello to the hottest girls in UK Athletics for the 2008-2009 season: the Ortman Twins, perhaps the next big thing in internet stardom.

But we won’t end there. Here are a few special awards. We think they should be added to the Catspys lineup.

Most Underrated Hotty Team – Swimming and Diving

There are a few girl
s from this group that probably should have been on this list. Unfortunately, swimming and diving isn’t the most popular collegiate sport and the selection of information and photography is limited. This group also took a hit with the graduations of the Bradford twins, but there is still plenty of beauty with girls like Leah Harms, Haleigh Kerns, and more still gracing the roster. Do yourself a favor and attend some S&D events this year.

Blast From The Past: Jenni Casper

I may have shed a tear the day I came to grips with the fact that Jenni was older than me and would graduate before I was able to attempt my courtship. So, I place her here in reverence as we miss her volleyball skills. Alisa has done a magnificent job in her sted, but there is no other Jenni Casper in the world – she would have easily topped last year’s list.
